Former Las Vegas casino executive gets probation, fine in illegal bookie case

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Former casino executive Scott Sibella was sentenced to probation and a fine for violating federal anti-money laundering laws when he allowed an illegal bookmaker to gamble at his casino. Wednesday's sentencing came after Sibella reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors back in January on a count of failure to file reports of suspicious transactions required to be made by casinos. Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill was among the people writing to the judge in support of Sibella.

Fourth of July celebrations keep Cambria County 911 dispatchers busy with fireworks-related calls

Johnstown, Pa — While many were busy on the Fourth of July with parties, 911 dispatchers were busy at work where they received some calls related to those celebrations - especially surrounding the fireworks. 6 News spoke with Art Martynuska, the Executive Director of Cambria County Emergency Services who says these kinds of calls on holidays like the Fourth of July are nothing out of the ordinary. “Fourth of July, you know, we see it happen time and time again, so the dispatchers are prepared,” said Martynuska.

Indiana Co. church erecting 100+ foot cross that 'can be seen for miles'

Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — A giant cross in Indiana County has to be seen to be believed. The newly erected steel cross is located at Hilltop Baptist Church. Standing 108 feet high, and 70 feet wide, the steel cross can be seen from miles away. Church leaders say they've been working on it for several months now and so far, volunteers have committed thousands of hours to help build it.
