Local Business Hall of Fame inductees announced

Local leaders announced Wednesday who will be inducted into the Greater Johnstown Cambria County Business Hall of Fame. Laureates include Robert Bantley, Joe Fortunato, James Hargreaves and the Kimball family. An induction ceremony is planned for April 19. Organizers said the goal is to honor local business leaders who've made "significant contributions" to the local economy and have improved the community. JOHNSTOWN -- Rickie Fowler arrived at Sunnehanna Country Club in 2007 as a skinny golf prodigy out of Oklahoma State who could hit the ball a country mile, and instantly became a crowd favorite. Fowler won in his debut at 8-under par, and vowed to return the following year to make a run at following in the footsteps of fellow Oklahoma State Cowboy Scott Verplank who was the last to repeat in the Amateur Tournament of Champions.

Youth headphone use increases risk of hearing loss, study reveals

Much of the younger population maybe at risk of hearing loss. That’s according to the results of a study done within the University of Michigan -- by the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on children’s health. The study adds that the main factor of this hearing loss issue within younger populations comes from earbuds -- like the popular air pods and other headphones. The study also shows that 64 percent of parents reported their child uses some type of earbud or headphone and 74 percent believe it is fine — as the volume is not too high.

Composite images released in unsolved 1975 stabbing death

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — Prosecutors say they've made progress in the unsolved 1975 stabbing death of a 19-year-old Pennsylvania woman and are going public with new composite images and fresh details about a possible suspect in hopes the public can help. The Lancaster County district attorney provided new information Thursday about the investigation into Lindy Sue Biechler's killing inside her suburban Lancaster apartment. District Attorney Craig Stedman says a man who left DNA at the scene is likely fair-skilled, very likely has hazel colored eyes, and probably has dark hair and no freckles.

Documentary on history of Blair County to debut next week; digital copies to be available

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A while ago, the Blair County Historical Society teamed up with a local production company to produce a documentary that focuses on the history of the county, and to raise money for various preservation efforts within the historical society. The long hours spent working on the project are finally over, and the production team anxiously awaits the special premier event, which takes place at the Mishler Theater next week.
