Altoona School District honors shooting hoax first responders

Blair County, PA — Nearly two weeks ago, students, parents, and teachers, at multiple school districts in our area, were on edge, over reports of an active school shooter. They later found out, that their worries were for nothing. Police letting them know they are here to help. Today, responding members were thanked by attendees at a baseball game. This special event was possible because of athletic director Phil Riccio, and media relations director Paula Foreman, says superintendent assistant, Haylee Fleegle.

Bishop McCort wrestler Mason Gibson joins brother at Penn State

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A local wrestler made the choice to continue his college career at Penn State. While he still has his final season of high school wrestling ahead of him, one Bishop McCort student says he wants to spend the next four years of his wrestling career at Rec Hall. Eighteen-year-old Mason Gibson originally committed to Cornell with his older brother Erik Gibson But after some time and thought, the highly decorated wrestlers decided to stay home.

Former PSU LB Paul Posluszny elected to College Football HOF

University Park, PA (WJAC) — Former Penn State linebacker Paul Posluszny has been selected to be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame later this year. “It is incredible honor to be named to the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Class,” said Posluszny. “Football is the ultimate team game, and when an individual gets honored, you think of all the people who have played a role in allowing this to happen.

Local Crime Stoppers president, brother accused of assaulting man at Geistown restaurant

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General have filed charges against the president of the local Cambria County Crime Stoppers, as well as his brother, after the two were accused of assaulting another man at a Geistown-area restaurant earlier this year. Investigators say on January 18th, police were called to the Bistro Restaurant, in Geistown Borough, for a reported assault. According to the affidavit, authorities say Gary and Jerry Martin were alleged to have physically assaulted another man during an altercation at the bar.
