Altoona police investigate theft at laundromat

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Altoona police are investigating a burglary that happened at a laundromat in June. Police have released surveillance photos of two men they say stole about $300 from the business June 26. According to police, the two men damaged a coin machine at Wishy Washy Washhouse on 6th Avenue and stole the coins. Meteorologist Caitlin Westerholm joined WJAC in March 2021 as the Weekend Meteorologist. Prior to moving to Johnstown, Caitlin worked as a Meteorologist at WBNG in Binghamton, NY while finishing up her degree at Millersville University. While at Millersville, she majored in Meteorology with a concentration in broadcast and minor in emergency management. She was also involved in Millersville's chapter of the American Meteorological Society, Millersville's student-run TV station, MUTV, Millersville's Campus Weather Service, and was the Executive Producer of Millersville's broadcast meteorology club, Weather Watch.

Clearfield community mourning loss of local theater employee following fire

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Residents and community members in Clearfield Borough are mourning the loss of of one of their own following a fire earlier this week. The Ritz Theater confirmed on its Facebook page that Fred Brown, who was a longtime employee of the theater, passed away Wednesday night. Clearfield Mayor Mason Strouse posted to his Facebook page that Brown had been badly burned in a fire Tuesday afternoon on West Front Street.

Fire crews battle late-night fire in Alum Bank

ALUM BANK, Pa. (WJAC) — According to Bedford County Dispatch, fire crews battled a house fire late Thursday night in Alum Bank. Dispatchers said they received a call for a fire on the 300 block of Wayne Boulevard, just after 10 p.m. Dispatchers told 6 News the residents were home at the time, however no injuries were reported.
