University Park, PA (WJAC) — The new Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is set to open next June.
The museum is located on the east end of campus, next to the university law school and the Arboretum.
The $85 million museum includes 20 galleries and will provide much more space for exhibits and events.
Penn State says its permanent collection includes more than 11,000 works of art.

Organizers of the Pennsylvania Lumberjack Championships said the event is the largest competition of its kind in the state.
They said in the three days of competition, Friday through Sunday, about $20,000 in prizes were handed out, along with a few U.S. title events.
"It's a very well-known show within the lumberjack community," President and founder of the Pennsylvania Lumberjack Championships said. "A lot of them vote it as their favorite show.
SEATTLE — REI CEO Eric Artz announced Thursday the company is laying off 357 employees as it braces for what's expected to be a "challenging" year ahead.
According to the message shared with employees, the layoffs will impact 200 people at headquarters, six from sales and customer support, 30 from experiences, meaning classes and trips, and 121 in distribution centers. No non-headquarters store-specific roles will be impacted.
Artz said every employee whose job is eliminated will be getting separation benefits including severance, COBRA, and outplacement support and services.
WASHINGTON (WJLA) — One man is dead and three other people are injured after police responded to a shooting in DC late Saturday night.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened at a nightclub in the 1300 block of H St., NE around 11:54 p.m.
Three men and one woman were taken to nearby hospitals, according to MPD. One man was pronounced dead at the hospital and the other three victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities say a State College native who was convicted for his role in the January 6th Capitol riot has been sentenced to serve 18 months behind bars.
Officials say Brian Gunderson was found guilty last November on charges of obstructing an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting or impeding law enforcement.
Authorities say Gunderson is accused of "joining a mob of rioters" inside the Parliamentarian’s Office of the building.
