911 call leads to discovery of dead man, over 100 reptiles inside PA home

Aliquippa, PA (WPXI) — Authorities say an unusual discovery was made after a call to 911 for an unresponsive man at a home in Pennsylvania turned up dozens of venomous snakes and an alligator. Officials say more than 150 snakes and an alligator were removed from a home in Aliquippa on Tuesday where a man was found dead. The man was one of four adults and a young child who lived in the home.

Altoona Curve baseball team welcomes Diamond Baseball Holdings as new owners, marking end of Lozinak

The Altoona Curve baseball team announced new owners on Wednesday. The minor league affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates will remain in Altoona, according to a release sent by the team. The team said Diamond Baseball Holdings is the new owner. It says the company operates other minor league baseball clubs that are affiliated with Major League Baseball. Bob and Joan Lozinak established the team 25 years ago. The statement said more than 7 million fans have attended games at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Authorities ID body of boy, 12, found dead inside Philadelphia dumpster

PHILADELPHIA (WCAU) — A shocking discovery was made in Philadelphia after police found the body of a 12-year-old boy placed in a trash can. Philadelphia police say a sanitation worker picked up a trash container from a street last Tuesday and took it to a nearby storage facility where it was housed overnight. But only when he made another trip a day later, the body was discovered. Authorities said an autopsy showed the boy was shot in the head.

Mountain Playhouse relocates, will perform at UPJ for 2022 season

Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Following a long intermission, the Mountain Playhouse is premiering its 2022 season in a new location. After operating at the Somerset County Gristmill, just outside of Jennerstown, for over 80 years, the nonprofit relocated after it was unable to purchase the theater for much needed improvements and repairs. As a result, the 2022 season will be held at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at UPJ, while the playhouse looks for a new, permanent home.

One man dead after vehicle accident in Lancaster County

One man is dead after a vehicle accident in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, Jan. 22 after his vehicle pulled out onto the roadway without proper clearance, state police said. According to a press release, Donald Swavely, 90, was exiting the parking lot of Good's Feed Mill on Dry Tavern Road around 12:15 p.m. State police said that another vehicle with a 28-year-old female driver and an infant passenger was traveling south on Dry Tavern Road when Swavely exited the parking lot without gaining proper clearance.
