Crews battle blaze at Scalp Level bar

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Multiple crews were called after flames broke out at a Scalp Level bar Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews were called to Jim’s Place Bar and Grill on the 100 block of Wissinger Road. A 6 News crew on scene says the building has suffered extensive damage. The Scalp Level fire chief says the building was burning for 20 minutes before the fire department was called. He says the building was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Four local wrestlers hope for a spot in the 2024 Olympics

Next week, four high schoolers will wrestle in a tournament that gives them the opportunity to qualify for the upcoming summer Olympics. Last week, some of those high school wrestlers going to the tournament didn't realize they were able to compete, since most qualifiers required the wrestlers to be 18 or older, but with this tournament, open those born in 2006, these competitors couldn't say no. NJ man killed in crash on PA Turnpike in Somerset Co.

SOMERSET CO, Pa (WJAC) — State police say a New Jersey man was killed early Thursday morning in a crash along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Somerset County. Troopers say the crash occurred around 1 a.m. Thursday as the driver of a van and a tractor-trailer were exiting towards the southbound Somerset service plaza. Investigators say the driver of the van failed to slow down in time and rear-ended the tractor-trailer.

Officials identify victim of deadly Cambria Township crash

UPDATE #2CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities have identified the man killed in a crash Friday afternoon in Cresson Township. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees says 84-year-old George Pastirko of Ebensburg was driving in Cambria Township when his car collided with another occupied by two juveniles. Lees says the cause of death is multiple sources of blunt force trauma as Pastirko was not wearing his seatbelt. One of the juveniles was injured.

PA Sen. Jake Corman says he's tested positive for COVID-19

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-Bellefonte) says he’s tested positive for COVID-19. Corman released the following statement: “Like many Americans, this morning Senator Corman tested positive for COVID-19, despite being fully vaccinated. In an overabundance of caution, Senator Corman has routinely been tested throughout the pandemic. He will continue to work while quarantining at home. His symptoms are mild, and he looks forward to a complete recovery.
