A Bellwood-Antis school board member is facing a slew of charges after police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, rifles and cash.

Thirty-three-year-old Jason Lynn, of Bellwood, is facing felony charges related to drug manufacturing and delivery along with receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint, Altoona police initiated a traffic stop on Saturday along Broad Avenue for a vehicle with a brake light out.

Police say the vehicle was registered to Lynn, but he was not in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

Officers say the woman driving the vehicle informed police that there were guns in the trunk.

The complaint says officers found several rubber bands and plastic baggies in the vehicle that are commonly used to package drugs.

In the trunk, police found a safe and four long guns, three of which had no record and one was stolen, the complaint says.

The woman told police that Lynn had let her use his car for work and had mentioned he had a safe in his trunk with items that he was looking to get rid of due to a Children and Youth Services investigation, the complaint says.

Inside the safe, police say they found ingredients used to make methamphetamine, along with other drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, receipt books and owe books with names.

Police say later that day they arrested Lynn after initiating a traffic stop.

Lynn told police that he had methamphetamine and cocaine in his backpack in the vehicle, along with multiple guns, the complaint says.

Police say they also found a baggie of methamphetamine in Lynn’s coat pocket.

Police say the following day they executed a search warrant at Lynn's home, where they found additional drugs, guns, ammunition and over $2,800.

According to the complaint, police found suspected heroin, a suboxone strip, methamphetamine and multiple pieces of paraphernalia. Also found were multiple unregistered guns, firearm magazines and various ammunition, according to the complaint.

6 News reached out to Bellwood-Antis School District Tuesday and received the following statement:

“Jason Lynn’s alleged actions do not reflect the values of our community, district, or our School Board of Directors. We have been in contact with our solicitor and are working through this issue. The district reserves the right to take appropriate action as we learn more about the charges and any possible legal ramifications.”

This is a developing story and will be updated.
