Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide-receiver Martavis Bryant is returning to the NFL after being suspended from the league for nearly five years.
Reports indicate that he is signing a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
Bryant was drafted by Pittsburgh in 2014 out of Clemson University.
In 2016, Bryant was suspended by the NFL for reportedly violating the league's substance abuse policy.
He was reinstated in 2017 and finished the year with 50 catches, for over 600 yards and three touchdowns.
In three total seasons with the Steelers, Bryant hauled in 126 total passes, for over 1,900 yards and 17 touchdowns.
In early 2018, Pittsburgh traded Bryant to the then Oakland Raiders.
Later that year, Bryant was released by the Raiders but was then re-signed to the team a short time later.
In December of 2018, the NFL indefinitely suspended Bryant for another substance abuse policy violation, which also violated the conditions of his previous reinstatement.
Since being cut from the league, Bryant has continued to apply for reinstatement while also playing for various other football leagues, including the CFL and the XFL.
Earlier this season, the NFL announced that Bryant could return to the league.
