LIGONIER, Pa. (WJAC) — Idlewild & SoakZone will kick off its 144th season this weekend, park officials say.
The park will open Saturday.
Officials say military will get into the park for free during Memorial Day weekend and there will be new foods and events to welcome guests back.
“Our classic amusement rides and theme areas like Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and the SoakZone water park offer plenty to smile about,” said Brandon Leonatti, General Manager. “We look forward to getting back to providing family fun this summer, and continue to plan for more enhancements to the park in the near future.”
Guests can expect to see several upgrades throughout the park including restroom renovations and fresh coats of paint on the Merry-Go-Round and the character cottages in Storybook Forest.
They say the renovations are just the start of an extensive, multi-season park upgrade.
Officials note that Storybook Forest and Jumpin’ Jungle won’t be open until June 10.
Sandcastle Waterpark in Pittsburgh will also open this weekend.
The parks will continue to follow the most recent COVID-19 guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
“We are looking forward to welcoming back our guests and providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable atmosphere,” said Rick Spicuzza, Sandcastle’s new Assistant General Manager. “There’s so much to be excited about, and many new things this summer to enjoy!”
