Dozens gathered at the Alabaster House Church to hold a vigil for Lt. James Wagner, who is in critical condition after a shooting in Mifflintown, Juniata County.
Wagner was shot on Saturday June 17th, during the same incident that Trooper Jacques Rougeau was shot and killed after encountering an individual who was the subject of a manhunt following two incidents in Juniata County. State Police say, the man that shot the two troopers, went to the Troop G Headquarters and shot at marked patrol units which then led to the manhunt.
The community has now come together for a prayer vigil for Wagner, as well as his wife Cindy, and their 3 sons Jon, Jacob, and Eden.
We spoke with some people about Lt. Wagner as well as the important role that state troopers serve for our community.
Law enforcement is a very hard job," said Eugene Jenkins, former co-worker of Wagner. "You very rarely hear about the support until they need it and when you see the community come together for one of our guys it means a lot."
"Anytime you pass a state police vehicle, let that be a reminder to say thank you and again ask for healing for lieutenant Wagner," said Matthew Wright, retired sergeant PSP Huntingdon. "He can certainly use all of our prayers."
Anyone interested can donate to the troopers’ families by sending a check to the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association (PSTA) at 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110. The check should be made out to the “Survivor’s Fund,” with the name of the trooper written in the “memo” portion of the check.
T-Shirts and Signs will also be sold on Monday, July 3rd at Love It.
