BENNER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — A fire ravaged a Centre County home late Friday night, on the 1000 block of West College Avenue in Benner Township.
Centre County Dispatch said firefighters from Pleasant Gap, Bellefonte, Centre Hall, and State College were called to the scene around 11pm.
The blaze caused extensive damage to much of the house — with one side completely singed and hollowed out, scorch marks along the roof lining, and a tree who's top leaves appear to have been burnt off.
West College Avenue was blocked between Shiloh Road in College Township and South Main Street in Pleasant Gap.
One woman told 6 News on Saturday about the moment she realized her neighbor's house caught on fire.
"I saw the flames and I was just like, 'There's nobody there, it seems.' And then it just kind of, you know, people started showing up," Amber Hohman recalled.
"But it just seemed like everything was happening in slow motion, even though I know like, obviously, stuff was happening really fast outside... But looking out, it just seemed like everything was, like — time kind of stopped and it probably felt like that, obviously, for the homeowner."
The fire departments called to the scene did not return our requests for comment.
