MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTOV) — A park in West Virginia is getting ready to make a big splash next season with what officials are calling a destination pool.
This is going to be an epic build for Marshall County and what we are going to build here at Grand Vue Park," said Craig White, who is the general manager at Grand View Park.With it, officials are thinking big, as it will hold 600 to 900 people.
It will have six features, including a beach entry that will allow parents to gradually walk into the water and be greeted by little kids’ splash pad activities.
There will also be a diving board, climbing wall, swimming lanes, lily pad water walks with a variety of difficulty levels, an area with three basketball hoops, and two huge water slides.
One of (the waterslides) will actually have some really cool designs inside, so it will give you a psychedelic feel a little bit," White said.It will mark the second update to the pool, from the popular "L" shape one the park opened in 1974.
We had to tear this pool out. By adding the amount of people through the RV Park into the park, we felt we needed a bigger pool," White said.They had a lot of hands on deck creating the layout. Lombardi Construction is making it, and Martin Aquatics in Florida, which creates Royal Caribbean’s pools, designed it.
This will be a destination pool at the end of the day,” White said. “People will literally drive to come to this pool. So, to have something like this to come to our area is going to be really neat."The pool is in the construction process, with hopes it will be ready by Memorial Day 2023.
