For most of 2020 we stayed at home but things have started to slowly open back up including a new business in Johnstown. The building itself has been a part of the city for 60 years, but when it went up for sale two brothers bought it and added so much more.

Chris Hogue and his brother thought the former Richland Lanes was right up their alley and have turned it into 814 Lanes and Games. The name of the business speaks for itself as they’ve added 40 arcade games, two escape rooms, laser tag, private party rooms, virtual reality and even a sports bar Bites and Brews.

“It's so satisfying to see people come through the door and just amazed at all the differences and changes that we've been able to bring and finally be able to play some of the attractions that we've brought into the community,” said Chris Hogue a partner of 814 Lanes and Games.

Hogue says they wanted to create a place where there was something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Laser tag he says has never been in Johnstown and looks forward to more people to come down and check it out.

Despite the pandemic leading to a longer construction process Hogue and his brother are thankful they were finally able to open. Hogue says they hope their business doesn’t just bring in people from the region to see what they can offer, but other businesses as well. The brothers are grateful to create something positive during a time of uncertainty.

“We've been able to hire almost 60 employees and we're continuing to look for a little bit more kitchen help and I think that's something not a lot of companies are able to say right now in the region so we're very proud of that,” said Hogue.

Hogue says they are taking every precaution necessary to make sure it’s not just a fun experience for everyone but also a safe one.

“We have not only the must up to date cleaning products but we also have foggers so we're cleaning in-between every single laser tag game, escape room, every single virtual reality and then we have roving arcade cleaners that are wiping down the games as well,” said Hogue.

There are still a few finishing touches left before Hogue says they’ll have a true grand opening, but you can check out their current hours on their Facebook page.
