Inmate escaped Blair County Prison using 'homemade rope,' climbed into ventilation

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) Authorities in Blair County are providing new details about how an inmate at the Blair County Prison reportedly escaped over the weekend. According to the affidavit, police say 33-year-old Isaiah Tilghman was discovered missing from his cell around noon on Sunday.

According to the affidavit, police say 33-year-old Isaiah Tilghman was discovered missing from his cell around noon on Sunday.

Authorities say, upon further investigation, officials discovered that Tilghman had escaped from his cell by gaining access into the prison's ventilation system using "homemade rope" made from various jail attire.

Police say he was then reportedly able to climb to a nearby platform where he then gained access to an outside, unsecured window which leads to the roof of the prison.

Authorities say it is unknown which direction Tilghman fled.

Police are asking anyone with information or who may have seen Tilghman to contact 911 immediately and to not approach him.

The Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department is asking for the public's help after an inmate escaped from the Blair County Prison Sunday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post, Isaiah Robert Tilghman, 33, was being housed at the Blair County Prison for drug related violations and also a state parole detainer.

Tilghman is described as a black male, 5'10 tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with any information to immediately call 911.
