Student accused of attacking fellow student with scissors at Soaring Heights School

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) Police in Clearfield County say a student at Soaring Heights School, located in Hyde, has been charged as an adult after he reportedly attacked another student with a pair of scissors.

Police in Clearfield County say a student at Soaring Heights School, located in Hyde, has been charged as an adult after he reportedly attacked another student with a pair of scissors.

Authorities say the student, who we are not identifying due to his disability, is alleged to have "tackled" the 12-year-old victim to the ground and attempted to "cut" the victim's neck with the scissors.

Police say staff members were able pull the student off of the victim and seize the scissors prior to officers arriving at the school on the morning of October 12th.

According to the affidavit, one of the staff members reportedly told police that the student was "trying to murder" the victim.

Police say when they questioned the student about his actions, he reportedly admitted to wanting to harm the victim because "he kept on talking and talking."

Authorities say the victim suffered a small cut to his right ear, as well as bruises to his face and neck, and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Investigators say the student faces several charges including felony aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

According to their website, Soaring Heights School offers "educational and behavioral programming for students ages 5 to 21 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or in need of emotional support services."
