Festival trees donated to those in need

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WJAC) — The Festival of Trees concluded this weekend, but that doesn't mean the fun stopped there. If sponsors didn't wish to keep their tree, they had the option to donate it. Those trees were then dropped off at Bellefonte’s Faith Center Monday for families in need. The trees came with all the decorations that went into them, and it was first come, first served for people to pick them up.

Best year in a decade for Blair County airport in 2023 despite loss of over 400k posted

A financial report states the Altoona-Blair County Airport had an operating loss of over $400,000 in 2023, but the airport manager said that number is out of context, and they had money in hand by the end of the year. The Altoona-Blair County airport manager Tracy Plessinger said even though it is a smaller airport they manage about $42 million in assets, and those assets losing value is what makes it appear as if the airport lost money.

Brockway house fire damage estimated over $100,000

BROCKWAY - The state police fire marshal, the Brockway Police Department and Brockway Fire Department estimated the fire damage to a single-story residential home at 1127 Pershing Street in Brockway Wednesday to be over $100,000. The Paterno Family Run brought thousands of runners and walkers onto the field at Beaver Stadium. Saint Joseph's Academy suspends football for 2018 season

Indiana County mother admits to 'smothering' 9-month-old child, staging scene

Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — Police in Indiana County say a local mother is behind bars following an investigation into the death of her 9-month-old infant son. Authorities say on January 6, officers were dispatched to a residence in Indiana Borough for reports on an unresponsive infant child. Parents share tragic tale of trooper son killed by impaired driver to warn students

West Branch Area High School students heard from the parents of a former state trooper who was killed by an impaired driver in 2008. During the speech on Tuesday, the Iwaniec family said that there have been more than 170,000 DUI-related deaths over the last 16 years. They spoke to West Branch students specifically about one of those, their son kenton, who was killed while driving home from work. On March 27, 2008, state trooper Kenton Iwaniec finished his shift in Chester County and began to drive home.

GREENSBURG -- A jury has returned a not guilty verdict in the trial of a man accused of gunning down a St. Clair Township police officer who responded to a domestic violence call. Lancaster County Amish population thrives despite sprawl

Area race track hosting national competition this weekend

That’s a primary question with the university now offering buyouts to commonwealth campus employees, which they're calling "voluntary separations." Penn State says the decision is due to a significant drop in enrollment at the campuses while it continues to work on lowering its operating budget deficit. UPMC Somerset set to open new primary care locations among other facilities

UPMC Somerset is hoping to open their new Davidsville primary care facility in August and a Drug and Alcohol center in April. Altoona man sentenced for selling heroin to man who suffered fatal overdose

HOLLIDAYSBURG – A Blair County man was sentenced Thursday to 6 to 12 years in prison for selling heroin to a man who died from an overdose in 2015. A jury in February convicted Zachary Moore, 24, of possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and simple possession. Moore was also convicted of selling $75 worth of heroin to 22-year-old Jacob Willis, of Altoona, who died hours later of an overdose.

PSP IDs human remains as Alexandria man who threatened, fled from police earlier this year

UPDATE | Huntingdon Co., PA (WJAC) — State police in Huntingdon County have identified the human remains found in Morris Township as Jedediah Rawlings, an Alexandria man who fled from troopers earlier this year after threatening police with knives. In late January, troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Rawlings' vehicle, at which time he reportedly led police on a pursuit. During the chase, authorities say Rawlings stopped in a parking lot where he threatened two troopers with knives before getting back into his vehicle.

40 human skulls, other bones used as decorations found in Kentucky man's home

WASHINGTON (TND) — Human remains -- including dozens of skulls -- were found inside a man's house in Kentucky, according to authorities. In an affidavit, an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation noted approximately 40 skulls, as well as femurs, hip bones, and a Harvard Medical School bag, were discovered during a raid at 39-year-old James Nott’s home in Bullitt County Tuesday morning. The skulls were decorated around the furniture.

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — John Stofa, a Johnstown native and the "Original Bengal," passed away at age 79 over the weekend. Stofa, who graduated from Johnstown Catholic/Biship McCort in 1960, was a former All-American and multi-sport athlete. Stofa played for the University of Buffalo prior to playing quarterback for multiple teams, in both the AFL and NFL. Over the course of his career, Stofa spent time with Miami, Denver, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, and was considered the "

HYDE PARK, Ohio (WKRC) - A teenager is dead after being shot just hours after his high school graduation. Lamon Wiggins, 18, attended Withrow High School. Lamon's family said he just attended prom a little more than a week ago and graduated on Friday night. Like many high school graduates, he went to celebrate with some friends, but his family said what happened next was completely unexpected. Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, a celebration was interrupted by gunfire.

Elk Co., PA (WJAC) — Police in Saint Marys say an Elk County man is facing new charges after federal investigators uncovered online chats detailing the sexual abuse of a toddler, according to a criminal complaint. Evan Gabor, 26, was charged in December after an investigation revealed that he was in possession of child pornography and had performed sexual acts with a dog. Now, police say Gabor faces new charges of sexual abuse, indecent exposure and indecent assault following an investigation by an undercover police officer in Wisconsin.

Company officials confirmed to 6 News their plans to bring a 55,000-square-foot Hobby Lobby store to the former Kmart location at 5820 Shaffer Road in DuBois. The company says the store’s projected opening is some time late in the first quarter of 2020. According to the Hobby Lobby website, the business is the largest privately-owned arts and crafts retailer in the world.

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Cleanup continues Tuesday after a sprinkler valve ruptured in a Penn State Altoona residence hall and displaced several students. According to Penn State officials, the sprinkler valve ruptured around 7 p.m. Monday in Cedar Hall, affecting fewer than 60 rooms. Officials said they’ve been cleaning up since just before 11 p.m. Monday. They said air dryers and dehumidifiers are being used in each affected room and will continue to run until the building is completely cleaned and dried.

Former teacher charged with child rape arrested again

The former teacher in Tennessee who was accused of raping a child has been arrested again, less than three weeks later — this time for coercion of a witness, aggravated stalking, and harassment. Alissa McCommon, 38, was first arrested on Sept. 8. She bailed out and was not allowed to have any contact with the alleged victim, or any minors other than her own children. But Covington police say that’s not what happened.

Authorities confirmed Thursday that a judge has appointed a new public defender after learning that Giles' previous attorney has a "conflict of interest" in the case. Officials say the attorney's firm was also reportedly representing someone who was related to one of the witnesses in the case.

Undocumented immigrant to stand trial in murder of Michigan girlfriend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An undocumented immigrant accused of murdering his girlfriend and leaving her body along US-131 will be going to trial. Wednesday, a judge found enough evidence to send Brandon Ortiz-Vite, a 25-year-old citizen of Mexico, to trial on charges of felony murder, open murder, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. He was previously arraigned on all five charges in the death of Ruby Garcia, 25, of Grand Rapids.

Another driver involved in the crash told police Shaulis was having trouble maintaining her lane before crossing into the path of the truck.

Last week, it was reported that the body of an infant was found along the roadside, in McConnellsburg Borough, on the morning of March 11th. Now, officials have identified the child as an infant male, weighing approximately four pounds and was "estimated to be 36-37 weeks gestational age.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — ABC15 News has obtained new documents relating to the Mica Miller case through the Freedom of Information Act that detail allegations of harassment and stalking that Mica reported to authorities about her estranged husband, John-Paul Miller. The Robeson County Medical Examiner confirmed Mica died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 27, 2024. The month before she died, Mica filed multiple police reports with Horry County Police and Myrtle Beach Police for alleged stalking and harassment incidents involving John-Paul.

3rd man surrenders in Pittsburgh shootout that killed infant

Pittsburgh, Pa (AP) — The third man sought in the death of an infant who was struck by a stray bullet that went into his family's apartment during a shootout on a Pittsburgh street has turned himself in to authorities. Devon Thompson, surrendered Tuesday. The 37-year-old McKees Rocks man faces charges of criminal homicide, criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault and a weapons count, and it wasn't known Wednesday if he's retained an attorney.

Former manager of Clearfield haunted house accused of repeatedly raping teen girl

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a former manager of a local haunted tourist attraction is facing charges after he was accused of repeatedly raping a teenage girl. According to the affidavit, state police allege that Kip Kolesar Jr., now age 26, sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim at various locations, including the site of the haunted house and at a local baseball field. Police say, according to the victim, Kolesar allegedly raped the girl approximately 10 times during the summer and fall of 2021.

'We need a miracle:' Thousands gather for prayer vigil for Karns City QB who collapsed during game

It was an emotional scene Sunday evening as thousands came out to support Karns City quarterback Mason Martin, who was hospitalized Friday after collapsing during the Gremlins’ game against Redbank Valley. Martin's friends, family and classmates found strength in numbers, as they packed the bleachers and came together to offer hope and comfort, but most of all prayers, for their quarterback as he continues to heal. CMMC implements ER visitation restrictions due to increase in local COVID cases

Health officials say these new restrictions will take effect immediately. Filming in Everett for Apple TV series gets pushed back

EVERETT, Pa (WJAC) — People from Bedford County may soon recognize one of their small towns on the big screen. Everett Borough will be featured in the Paramount Network and Apple TV series, "Defending Jacob." On Saturday, there were crews filming on Main Street in Everett and at the abandoned turnpike tunnels in Breezewood. Filming was supposed to begin early in the morning, but according to the show's location manager, Drew Nicholas, it was pushed back to later in the day.

It's a performance that's put together by students all while helping fellow students this holiday season. JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- A Johnstown restaurant that was ordered to temporarily close after failing a health inspection Thursday has reopened. Fuji Japanese Steakhouse at the Galleria Mall in Johnstown reopened Friday after passing a health inspection. According to the health inspection report, the Department of Agriculture ordered Fuji to temporarily close after it found a total of 42 live roaches, 15 roach eggs and 16 dead roaches throughout the facility.

Home Depot in Canada has pulled a Halloween decoration off of its shelves following complaints from customers. Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Johnstown police say a local man is behind bars, nearly three years after he allegedly robbed a credit union in the city. Police say Derrick Smith, 33, was taken into custody last week on charges related to the robbery of the Franklin Johnstown Federal Credit Union in February of 2020. JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — An assistant principal at McAdory Middle School was arrested in connection to a triple homicide that happened in Georgia more than a decade ago. According to Jefferson County jail records, 45-year-old Keante Harris' was arrested Wednesday and charged with being a fugitive from justice. Bellwood man charged for stealing guns from local hardware store

A 20-year-old Bellwood man has been charged after he allegedly broke into a local hardware store in June and stole multiple guns. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Seth Baney broke into Tanner’s Hardware & Building Supplies in Bellwood Borough between 1 and 3 a.m. June 19. A glass door at the store had been broken and police recovered blood evidence from the scene. According to a police search warrant obtained by 6 News, on Tuesday, a father who lives out of town was worried about his son, 29-year-old Osaze Osagie, who he told police had been acting erratically for a couple of weeks and could possibly be off his medication. The father showed police text messages that showed Osagie made threats to himself and others, the warrant says.

50 animals removed from Butler Co. home after discovery of dead dogs

He was the crew chief on a C-123 cargo plane during the Vietnam War as part of the 311th Squadron of the Air Force from October 1967 to October 1968. Oftentimes, Morganti would transport supplies to Marine camps and move wounded and deceased bodies.

Altoona police chief responds to multiple officers in trouble with the law

ALTOONA -- This week Altoona police are waiting for blood-test results to determine charges for an officer who allegedly drove under the influence over the weekend, making him the third officer to face charges or citations in recent months. Chief Janice Freehling said Monday that she does not condone any of this behavior and that "the matters are being dealt with." Freehling said Officer Erik Stirk, who was off-duty at the time, was arrested and consented to blood tests.

Man pleads guilty in wrong-way DUI crash that killed Ligonier Township officer

GREENSBURG - A man charged with killing a western Pennsylvania police officer in a wrong-way crash while he was intoxicated has pleaded guilty to charges in the case. Clair Fink pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder and drunken driving charges over the head-on crash that killed Ligonier Township Police Lt. Eric Eslary last year. The crash left Eslary's police dog injured. Thirty-three-year-old Fink made the plea at a brief hearing in Westmoreland County court.

Taylyn Edwards, now age 20, of Johnstown, reportedly conspired with seven others to kidnap and kill Hayden Garreffa. Police say Garreffa's body was found in a remote, wooded area in Brush Valley Township in October of 2022.

2 parents smoked meth in front of children on 14 occasions

ALTOONA, Pa. - Two Altoona parents are facing dozens of child endangerment charges stemming from an ongoing child pornography investigation being conducted by Altoona police. Teen firefighter charged for starting multiple brush fires in Huntingdon Co.

Three Allegheny County residents charged after alleged theft and high-speed chase in Centre County

Three Allegheny County residents have been charged after they allegedly stole from vehicles and led police on a chase in Centre County. At about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday police spotted a man outside of a vehicle along Airport Road in Ferguson Township. Officers were investigating reports of thefts from vehicles at Bernel Park. According to a probable-cause affidavit, when an officer activated his emergency lights, the man entered the vehicle, which then took off at a “high rate of speed.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — A Bellefonte man has been sentenced to serve 2 to 4 years in state prison after pleading guilty to having a "sexual relationship" with a teenage girl. Last November, police charged Akile Parker following an investigation into accusations that he had engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl. Authorities say they discovered numerous sexually-explicit text messages between Parker and the victim. Police say the victim's mother allegedly confronted him about the accusations, at which time he denied them.

Community looks to help Cambria Co. fire department buy new truck

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A community in Johnstown is coming together to help its local fire department after an unfortunate event. In January, West Hills Regional Fire Department's ladder truck caught on fire, leaving the fire station without a critical piece of equipment. It's been almost three months since the event and West Hills Fire Department’s fire chief Robert Tauber says they’re still not sure how much money the insurance will reimburse the department for a new truck that’s expected to cost between $900,000 to a million dollars.

Penn Highlands implements web cameras at NICU unit

DuBois, PA — According to Suzanne McCullough, Director of Penn Highland's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, they implemented a NICVIEW web camera to provide 24/7 access for family members to see their newborns. She said the parents receive a log in for the online portal to see their babies virtually anytime, anywhere. McCullough said the cameras have been up and running for about a week now. Since then, she said they've connected with family members and friends from at least six different states.

Utah woman ID'd as female found near I-80 in Clearfield

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — State police have released new details on the investigation into a woman whose body was found in a wooded area near Interstate 80 in Clearfield County earlier this month. Annual Bandshell Bark Dog Walk and Festival draws a crowd

ROXBURY, Pa. (WJAC) — The fourteenth annual Bandshell Bark Dog Walk and Festival took place Saturday in Roxbury. Court dismisses lawsuit filed by ex-PSU football trainer, Beta Theta Pi adviser

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A lawsuit filed by former Penn State football team trainer Tim Bream against the university has been dismissed in Centre County court. Bream claimed Penn State violated NCAA guidelines in reducing his responsibilities to avoid the appearance of scandal or impropriety. Bream was a live-in adviser at the fraternity house where a party led to the death of Timothy Piazza in 2017. Penn State says Bream never told them he was living at the fraternity.

(AP) — A volunteer fire company in Pennsylvania has disbanded months after it was suspended when another fire company allegedly heard members using racial slurs and disparaging Black residents in a virtual meeting. In a letter to Darby Township commissioners Wednesday, the Briarcliffe Fire Company announced it was shutting down. “The Briarcliffe Fire Company strongly denies that anyone in the township was ever treated differently or discriminated against based upon their race,” the company’s lawyer Robert Ewing wrote in the letter.

SCI Forest reports first COVID-19 inmate death

HARRISBURG, Pa (WJAC) — Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections announced the first COVID-19 inmate death at SCI Forest. Authorities say the inmate, whose name will not be released, was a 65-year-old male with underlying health conditions who passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday. Officials say he was serving a 10 to 20-year sentence for burglary and had been at the facility since September of this year.

Crayola retires 'dandelion' crayon color

NEW YORK — Crayola announced on Thursday that the colorDandelion will be retired. It's the first time in their over 100 year history that the company has retired a crayon from the 24-count box. Huntingdon Co. man seriously injured after tractor-trailer strikes bear

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in DuBois say a Huntingdon County man was seriously injured on Friday when his tractor-trailer collided with a bear along Route 153 in Clearfield County. Troopers say the crash occurred just after 4 a.m. Friday in Huston Township. Investigators say after the truck struck the bear, it overturned, trapping the driver inside. Police say the driver, a 56-year-old Entriken man, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Penn Highlands DuBois with suspected serious injuries.

PA Fish and Game commissions warn of online scams

PA (WJAC) — Both the PFBC (Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission) and the Pennsylvania Game Commission are warning fishermen and hunters about online licensing scams that have recently been reported. According to a release, customers reported that they had purchased licenses through a third-party website that looked similar to the real Outdoor Shop, the PFBC and the Game Commission’s online purchasing portal, but never received a license. “The only proven, reputable and reliable methods for purchasing Pennsylvania fishing licenses and permits are through the PFBC’s online portal The Outdoor Shop or in-person from a retail license issuing agent,” said Bernie Matscavage, director of the PFBC Bureau of Administration.

(WJAC) — A man retrieving a deer after hunting Saturday died after his ATV overturned. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said 56-year-old Justin E. Lieb, from Nicktown, Cambria County, died due to blunt-force trauma after his ATV overturned on a steep incline. Lees said Lieb went home to get his Yamaha Grizzly ATV after harvesting a deer Saturday morning and was returning to the woods when the crash happened. Lieb’s family became worried after he didn’t return home that evening and called officials, who found Lieb in the woods near Double Dam Road, Susquehanna Township.

One person injured in commercial vehicle accident in Somerset County

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Altoona Police Department made an arrest Monday near Westfall Park and Cemetery. According to police, Christopher Helsel was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, simple assault, resisting arrest, obstruction of law, public drunkenness, and others. Around 1:30 a.m., an APD officer was on patrol and saw three vehicles near the wood line at the top of the cemetery, police said. Vandals set thousands of mink loose from fur farm in Pennsylvania, state police say

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WOLF) — A vandal reportedly broke into a mink farm in Pennsylvania, setting thousands of mink loose in the area. State Police said Richard H. Stahl Sons in Rockefeller Township was vandalized sometime between midnight and 6:50 a.m. on Sunday. It was reported that an unknown person cut holes in the fence surrounding the mink farm, releasing approximately 6,000 to 8,000 mink from their pens. Numerous state agencies and farm staff are currently working on recovering the mink that escaped the fence, troopers said.

4 charged in 'drug intoxication' death of 2-year-old boy in Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Somerset County say four individuals are facing involuntary manslaughter charges in the 2022 death of a 2-year-old boy in Milford Township. Investigators say the child was found unresponsive on April 17, 2022 and was taken to UPMC Somerset, where he later died. Officials say the child's cause of death was determined to be "multiple drug intoxication" as fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and xylazine were all reportedly found in his system.

A Karns City Area football player was flown to the hospital Friday after he reportedly collapsed on the field during the game. According to reports from the Butler Eagle and D9 Sports, Karns City QB Mason Martin was transported to the hospital after collapsing near the 8-minute mark of the third quarter. The game was stopped by the officials at the 7:53 mark of the quarter and Redbank Valley was credited with a 35-6 victory.

Dauphin County, PA — Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Brian Rickard was charged Friday after being accused of stealing heroin from the Troop R, Honesdale evidence room, ingesting it while at work and home, and using work computers and programs to cover up the thefts, officials say. ALTOONA – Police have identified the man they said robbed a 73-year-old woman of her diabetic medication earlier this week. Altoona police said they have a warrant for Scott Borgess. One man dead after vehicle accident in Lancaster County

One man is dead after a vehicle accident in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, Jan. 22 after his vehicle pulled out onto the roadway without proper clearance, state police said. End in sight for years-long Route 322 Potters Mills construction project

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — PennDOT says that the Route 322 Potters Mills construction project is nearly complete. The construction project that began nearly five years ago will have a new roadway and two new interchanges that will eliminate backups on both routes 144 and 322 and a smoother flow of traffic. Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Cambria County court officials confirmed that an area pest control worker who was caught on video urinating inside a local family's living room has entered a plea in the case. Officials say Roger Young appeared in court earlier this week where he pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct. Authorities note that the charge was downgraded to a non-traffic citation, and his other charge of criminal mischief was withdrawn.

High lead levels found in Hollidaysburg water, officials not concerned

Section of Route 403 closed 'until further notice' following storm damage

Route 403 along Greenhouse Park in Johnstown is closed until further notice. PennDOT officials say that damage was found on the roadway from last week's heavy rain and high water. Last week, work began in the area as part of the Route 403 Corridor Improvement Project, which includes pavement preservation and several other upgrades along the roadway, between Tire Hill and Hooversville. Another Michigan dairy worker has been diagnosed with bird flu, the third human case associated with an outbreak in U.S. dairy cows, health officials said Thursday. ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — A Bellwood-Antis school board member is facing a slew of charges after police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, rifles and cash. Thirty-three-year-old Jason Lynn, of Bellwood, is facing felony charges related to drug manufacturing and delivery along with receiving stolen property. According to a criminal complaint, Altoona police initiated a traffic stop on Saturday along Broad Avenue for a vehicle with a brake light out.

Altoona Model Railroad Museum debuts new model train platforms

Altoona, PA (WJAC) — With the colder weather approaching, and people seeking more things to do indoors, the Altoona Model Railroad Museum Association would like to extend an invitation to the community to visit their museum. They have numerous train platforms, depicting Altoona and the surrounding landscape, set up at their location along 9th Avenue. Huntingdon Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say an inmate at SCI Smithfield is facing new charges after being accused of attempting to orchestrate the murder of his mother's new husband. Investigators say in May, troopers learned of an alleged murder-for-hire plot after reviewing letters that had been sent by 36-year-old Sean (Ceyon) Cuffy Jr. According to the affidavit, Cuffy had allegedly sent the letters to a woman, and had asked her to contact a man who goes by the name "

Man purchases, designs custom caskets for victims of Uvalde school shooting

Uvalde, TX (CNN) — A family-run company has donated 19 custom caskets for the victims of the Uvalde school shooting. The caskets came from Trey Ganem of Soulshine Industries, based in Edina, Texas. Hanem says he was contacted by the Texas Funeral Directors Association the day of the shooting. He said he worked tirelessly with his 15-year-old son to get them assembled, designed and delivered in time for the funerals.

Second man pleads guilty in federal firearms trafficking case in Blair Co.

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities say a second man has pleaded guilty to charges related to illegal firearms sales and trafficking in Blair County. According to court documents, Craig Zahradnik pleaded guilty to seven counts related to the possession, manufacturing and trafficking of illegal firearms, including "ghost guns." Zahrdnik was one of three Blair County men charged earlier this year following an ATF investigation into the alleged crimes.

Skenes shines in second MLB start; tosses 6 no-hit innings

Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect Paul Skenes was better than advertised in his second major league start on Friday. Watt's record-breaking play came in the second quarter as he brought down Cleveland Browns' quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watt surpassed former Steelers' outside linebacker James Harrison on the all-time team sacks list, as he now holds the record with 81.5 career sacks. Harrison was reportedly in attendance Monday night and told reporters that he wanted to see Watt break the record.

$37.4 million boost for broadband could transform internet access in the region

WJAC — $37.4 million announced for increased access to broadband internet in our region. This according to local lawmakers, and the Pennsylvania broadband development authority. Lawmakers say the move is currently in the early stages of supplemental funding from the U.S. Department of treasury, (or P.B.D.A.). State senator Wayne Langerholc says the usage of internet is becoming more essential, as time passes. Langerholc tells me this will also allow for more competition to help fill the gaps in broadband internet access for rural areas.

For the first time, the number of Americans who use marijuana just about every day has surpassed the number who drink that often, a shift some 40 years in the making as recreational pot use became more mainstream and legal in nearly half of U.S. states. Local fire department hosts annual indoor yard sale

The annual Howard Fire Company indoor yard sale is in full swing in Centre County. The three-day yard sale is at the fire company banquet hall. Items include furniture, appliances, clothing for children and adults, kitchen supplies, children's toys and games and more. All of the merchandise being sold has been donated by residents of Howard and surrounding areas served by the all-volunteer fire company. The funds raised will go directly to the fire company for their needs.

one man dead after vehicle vs. pedestrian accident in Dauphin County

One man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Dauphin County Thursday morning, state police said. According to a press release, the incident occurred just before 5:30 a.m. on South River Road a half of a mile north of US 322 in Reed Township. While details are limited at this time, state police said the individual, identified only at this time as a 62-year-old male from Jacksonville, Florida, was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire ravages Centre Co. home, leaves extensive damage

BENNER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — A fire ravaged a Centre County home late Friday night, on the 1000 block of West College Avenue in Benner Township. Centre County Dispatch said firefighters from Pleasant Gap, Bellefonte, Centre Hall, and State College were called to the scene around 11pm. The blaze caused extensive damage to much of the house — with one side completely singed and hollowed out, scorch marks along the roof lining, and a tree who's top leaves appear to have been burnt off.
